FAQ

  • What is the Art Field Project?

This project is a lot of things, but in short: I ask folks across different neighborhoods, “What art in the neighborhood is meaningful to you?” From there, I find the artwork for myself, plot it on our interactive map, and sometimes, I decide to meet up with participants and delve a little deeper into the artwork. All in all, I simply want to encourage neighborhood exploration, art appreciation and human connection, which I think is pretty useful these days!

  • How do I submit my response?

Fill out the form on the homepage! I read every response.

  • Why does my participation matter?

The Art Field Project depends on community responses. Despite my art background, it doesn’t make sense for me to tell you about artwork in your own neighborhood - you be the expert! Beyond exploring, a goal of mine is to highlight positive assets and the benefits of co-inquiry within and across communities.

  • I don't know anything about art. Should I still participate?

Yes! You are the neighborhood expert, and what matters to me is understanding your personal connection with the art there. No art background is required for that.

  • Will my submission be selected for an interview?

The Art Field Project receives numerous submissions across different cities. I do my best to include every submission onto the interactive map, but I can only select a handful of responses for profiles.

  • I noticed you made a mistake.

I always do my best to perform due diligence when writing about art. Sometimes I will make mistakes. Please write to me at catherine@artfieldproject.com if you’ve noticed an error so that I can edit accordingly.
